The first time I met Martin Kubik, I was a little bit curious about how he is going to react to the agile transformation program he wanted to talk about. I expected a formal speech, questions that will make him feel comfortable and questions regarding our experience. Well, the meeting went differently. It was personal.
No kidding. The first thing was to sit down, look eyes to eyes and then comment resonated the air. “No business speech here. I want to to know a story about you, your history and your company history. Then I am going to share mine. Is that fine with you?”. Man, that resonated. It was clear it will be about partnership, not just another customer-vendor talk type.
Changing an organization, especially habits and culture is always challenging. You have to be ready for failures. You have to be always looking for learning from them. Your motivation has to be very high even you know that promises you provided were probably too optimistic. But the most important thing? You have to be a leader standing encouraged and encouraging. That’s Martin Kubik as I know him.
